Malaysia and the United States will strengthen cooperation in humanitarian assistance missions to disaster-hit countries, a high-ranking Malaysian air force officer said here on Tuesday.
Royal Malaysia Air Force's Air Operations Commander Lt Gen. Rodzali Daud made this remark at a five-day Pacific Rim Airpower Symposium 2008, which opened here on Monday.
It was important that such missions could be coordinated effectively to make sure humanitarian assistance reached its target, Rodzali was quoted as saying by Malaysian national news services Bernama.
The symposium is participated in by 60 air force representatives from 20 countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, the Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, the United States and Malaysia, Bernama said.
