The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) on Friday formed a political committee to decide on government-level political decisions.

The central committee meeting of the party was held at the prime minister's official residence at Baluwatar in Nepali capital Kathmandu.

According to CPN-M spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara, the political committee, chaired by Prime Minister and the party's chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda", includes Finance Minister Baburam Bhattari, Defense Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa "Badal", senior party leaders Mohan Baidhya "Kiran" and Posta Bahadur Bogati.

The meeting also approved Prachanda's maiden political visit to India, slated to kick off on Sept. 14. The meeting hoped that the visit would help to establish a better relationship with India.

At the meeting, the central members put forth their views on the policy and programs of the government and the budget, informed Central Member Dinanath Sharma, according to Nepali national news agency RSS.

On Aug. 15, with support from most of the other Constituent Assembly parties, CPN-M chairman Prachanda was elected the first prime minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. The cabinet under CPN-M's leadership has got its full shape on Aug. 31.
