Sanj Bayar, chairman of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP), was approved as prime minister of the new government by the Mongolian parliament on Thursday.
Bayar served as Mongolia's ambassador to Russia from 2001 to 2005, secretary general of the MPRP from 2005 to 2007 and chairman of the party from October 2007. He was appointed prime minister in November 2007.
Bayar said he would give top priority to boosting the national economy and improving people's living standard.
He will submit the list of members of the new government to the parliament soon.
The MPRP is entitled to form a new government on its own but the party had decided to establish a united government with the Democratic Party, local media reported.
Parliamentary elections were held on June 29 in Mongolia. The MPRP and the Democratic Party each won 42 and 25 seats in the 76-member parliament.
The Citizens Will-Republican Party and an independent candidate got one seat each. But the results for the remaining seven seats have not been published yet. Source:Xinhua
