Sri Lanka's government troops have taken another strategic location in the island's north. The troops have entered the town of Oddusudan on the A34 highway, defense officials said Sunday.
The troops had entered Oddusudan from the north and western directions. Meanwhile the Sri Lanka Airforce said that four separate air raids on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebel locations were conducted on Sunday.
Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara, the Airforce spokesman said that identified rebel targets in the east of Oddusudan and south of Elephant Pass were attacked successfully.
"They were done in support of the Army's 59 division and the Task Force 1. The government troops are now heading towards Elephant Pass and Mullaithivu having on Friday captured the rebel administrative capital of Kilinochchi.
Kilinochchi fell into government control for the first time in 10 years and it was a serious blow to the LTTE's dream of achieving a separate state for the Tamil minority. Source:Xinhua
