Afghan forces during operation against Taliban insurgents in the eastern Khost province detained 11 rebels, provincial police chief Abdul Qayum Baqizai said Tuesday. "Backed by the U.S.-led Coalition forces, the operation, conducted in Sabari district Monday, has led to the arrest of 11 rebels," Baqizai said.
He also added that six militants wearing Burqa (envelop-like dress covering ladies from head to toe), were detained while they were trying to escape.
Taliban militants have yet to make comment.
Khost and the neighboring provinces, bordering Pakistan's lawless tribal areas, have been the scene of Taliban-linked insurgency over the past couple of years.
