The death toll in ferry capsizal in Bangladesh's Kishoregonj district, 117 km northeast of capital Dhaka, rose to 17, with six more bodies recovered on Friday, private news agency UNB reported.
The ferry carrying about 100 passengers capsized in Daleshwari river on Wednesday night and 11 bodies were recovered on Wednesday and Thursday.
Rescuers managed to salvage the sunken ferry, 9 to 10.6 meters under water, after hours of their relentless efforts on Thursday evening.
No specific reason was given for the accident, though overloading is often blamed.
Ferry and boat disasters are common in Bangladesh, which is criss-crossed by about 250 rivers. Ferry is still key means of transport in the South Asian country.
