"There was no explosion in Kabul on Monday," said Zahir Azimi, the spokesman for Afghan Defense Ministry.
Another official who declined to be named said the bangs could be caused by controlled explosion during military training.
Any big bang causes concerns and panic among the war-weary Afghans as Taliban militants often used roadside and suicide bombings target Afghan and international forces in big cities.
The hardliner militia by organizing a bloody suicide car bomb attack in mid May this year killed over 20 people including six soldiers with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and injuring some 50 others with majority of them civilians in last May.
