PM seeks int'l help for Nepal's bid at UNCaretaker Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal called Chinese and Russian ambassadors to Nepal -- Qui Guohong and A. L. Trofimov -- to discuss on the extension of United Nations Mission in Nepal's (UNMIN) term and Nepal's bid for the chair of United Nations General Assembly for 2011-2012.

According to Tuesday's The Rising Nepal, Nepal asked the two envoys Monday, who represent the UN Security Council permanent member countries, to extend their support to Nepal's candidate Kul Chandra Gautam for the post.

Nepal informed that Nepal was fielding candidacy on the behalf of Asia and said United Nations Security Council permanent member nations had an important role in electing the chair of the assembly.

He also sought their advice on the extension of UNMIN's term in Nepal.

"The envoys were positive about Nepal's desire to lead the UN Assembly for 2011- 2012," PM's foreign affairs advisor Rajan Bhattarai told the media.

They also informed that they sent the letter of Nepal to the heads of their respective nations regarding the Nepal's request to support Gautam.

On the extension of the UNMIN's tenure, they said that it was the internal affair of Nepal.

"Nepal should take decision on the fate of UNMIN based on consensus among the parties," Bhattarai quoted the two envoys as telling to the PM.&
