Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said Wednesday his government will not issue travel warning to Malaysians visiting Indonesia at this moment.
Speaking to reporters at the federal administration center here on Wednesday, Najib said the warning will not be issued unless the situation in Indonesia deteriorates to the extent that Malaysians safety is threatened.
He also said he would seek Malaysian Foreign Affairs Ministry's advise on the matter before making any decision.
The arrest of three Indonesian officials who were accused of encroaching into the Malaysian waters by the Malaysian marine police in August has sparked anger in Indonesia.
An Indonesian nationalist group stomped and smeared human faeces on a Malaysian flag in front of the Malaysian Embassy last week in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.
Human waste was also thrown into the embassy by some demonstrators, resulting in the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia called to explain the incident by the Malaysian Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Najib said the issuance of travel warning is a serious matter as both the Malaysian and Indonesian governments have been enjoying close relationships.
