Border problem between Cambodia, Thailand solved out: Cambodian PM

Border problem has been solved out between Cambodia and Thailand, and the situation has returned to that before July 15, 2008, said Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday at the graduation ceremony in the National Institute of Education.

Cambodia will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Thailand on December 19 in Phnom Penh with the participation of Thai Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya, Hun Sen said.

The premier added that the border situation between Cambodia and Thailand has now returned to the date before July 15, 2008.

"The situation has been solved out, the situation is eased," he said. "I don't want to do a public statement, but I can say that the problem has been solved out, the situation has returned to before July 15, 2008, I just say that it's enough to understand."

He said the regularity of relations after four time meetings between the two prime ministers.

"Facilitation along the border and goods exchange are easy, but not all complete, there still be the issue of border measures, the issue of demining and the issue of opening more border gates to push bilateral cooperation," he added.

Hun Sen praised for joint Cambodia Thai concert in Nov. 28 at the Indoor Stadium at Hua Mark in Bangkok, and live televised to Cambodia through the national television of Cambodia and TV3 and in the future, such concert will be held in Cambodia and will live televise to Thailand.

Cambodia and Thailand have had border conflict just one week after Cambodia's Preah Vihear Temple was registered as World Heritage Site in July 2008, triggering a military build-up along the border, and periodic clashes between Cambodian and Thai soldiers have resulted in the deaths of troops on both sides.

The border issue, however, has been eased as the top leaders of Cambodia and Thailand have held four meetings since September.
