A 10-year old boy who was kidnapped in October last year was released in southern Philippines Sunday morning, police said.

Ceekim Gomonit, abducted on Oct. 22, 2010, was released by unidentified abductors at around 8 a.m. Sunday at a grassy portion of a undisclosed place, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman Senior Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr. said.

The abductors reportedly blind folded Gomonit and was given 1, 000 pesos (22.5 U.S. dollars) for his fare.

After Gomonit was released, he underwent medical check-up at Pagadian City Medical Center the same day.

"No ransom money involved in the release of the victim," Cruz said.

Gomonit was kidnapped along with his 60-year old grandmother, who was killed by the abductors. The grandmother's body was found decomposing in Kirapan village, Sultan Naga Dimaporo town in Lanao del Norte province in December 2010.
