U.S. President George W. Bush met with Australia's new prime minister Kevin Rudd at the White House Friday, White House spokesman Scott Stanzel said.
The summit meeting would strengthen U.S.-Australia relationship and cooperation on a number of issues, including "Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, climate change, and regional economic integration," Stanzel told reporters soon after Bush met with Rudd.
The ongoing talks will deal with Iraq issues, the spokesman said.
