The Panamanian president and several government ministers signed cooperation deals with their counterparts from Uruguay here on Monday.
Ties between the two countries will be significantly boosted by these deals, which covered a wide range of sectors including economy, agriculture, maritime transportation, judiciary and culture, local media said.
The most noteworthy among these agreements is an extradition treaty which demands both countries to surrender criminal suspects in exile on its territory to one another.
Meanwhile, the two countries also agreed to promote exchanges in the film industry.
The deals were signed during the visit by Uruguayan President Tabare Vasquez, who also toured the Panama Canal on Monday.
Vazquez will visit the Supreme Court of Justice and the National Assembly of Deputies on Tuesday and meet with Panamanian business people in the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture before leaving for Cuba.
