U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson will travel to Moscow, Berlin, Frankfurt and London from June 29 to July 3 to meet with senior officials and market participants on economic issues, the Department of Treasury said in a statement on Tuesday.

During the trip, Paulson will meet "senior government officials and market participants to discuss the global economy, the launch of a Clean Technology Fund, the need to keep economies around the world open to investment and efforts to protect the global financial system from abuse by Iran," the statement said.

The 27-member EU approved new sanctions against Iran on Monday by deciding to freeze the assets of Iran's Bank Melli, the country's largest, and a travel ban on high-level experts dealing with Iran's nuclear program.

Under the new sanctions, the operations of the bank at its European offices in London, Hamburg and Paris will be stopped, while another 20 individuals and 15 organizations were added to the EU's visa-ban and assets-freeze lists.

The United States has welcomed the new EU sanctions on Iran.
