At least 14 people were killed and 40 injured when a bus slammed into a truck in the eastern Mexican state of Veracruz, authorities said Sunday.
The accident happened on Saturday at noon on the federal highway Tantoyuca-Tempoal in the municipality of Tantoyuca in Veracruz state, according to a spokesman of the Federal Preventive Police (PFP).
The bus belonged to the Estrella Blanca company.
The bus driver lost control on a turn and invaded the opposite lane, colliding with the truck, the PFP said Sunday.
Eleven of the dead were aboard the bus and three others in the truck. 20 injured people whose condition was described as stable were taken to Regional Hospital of Tempoal.
A similar accident happened on May 20 in Hidalgo state, killing28 people and injuring five. The bus involved in that accident also belonged to the Estrella Blanca company. Source:Xinhua
