A man, who was found carrying improvised explosive device and a rifle, was arrested near the U.S. Capitol Hill buildings, police said on Friday.

According to the Capitol police, the man stopped a police officer to ask a question about several blocks southeast of the Capitol when he was noticed carrying a rifle case in his car.

Police also found a rifle, an explosive device and several other weapons in his car after a further search, and brought the man into custody for questioning.

However, the Capitol police did not identify the man but only said that he has not been charged yet.

The incident happened about one week before the U.S. marks the 7th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the country leaving thousands killed.
