U.S. President George W. Bush on Tuesday discussed the instability in the financial markets with leaders of Britain, France, and Italy, calling for joint efforts to solve the financial crisis spreading around the globe, the White House said.
"In these conversations with our good allies and our friends, the president is discussing the various measures that the United States is taking to bring stability to the markets as well as the importance for all countries to work together to coordinate our actions on finding solutions to the problems that are facing all of us," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.
The Bush administration was focusing on a meeting at the end of the week of finance ministers from the United States, Germany, Britain, France, Italy, Canada and Japan, Perino said.
"We want to make sure that everyone's on the same page when they get there so that it can be an effective and efficient meeting," the spokeswoman noted.
