U.S. President Barack Obama will visit Ghana on July 10-11 in his first official trip to Africa, the White House announced on Saturday.
"While in Ghana, the president will discuss a range of bilateral and regional issues with Ghanaian President (John Atta-) Mills," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said in a statement.
"The president and Mrs. Obama look forward to strengthening the U.S. relationship with one of our most trusted partners in sub-Saharan Africa," the statement said.
Obama's predecessor George W. Bush visited Accra, the capital of Ghana, in February 2008.
