Cooperation between the United States and Senegal has "excellent" prospects, a senior U. S. Commerce official said here on Tuesday.
Suresh Kumar of the U. S. Commerce Department made the optimistic point after a meeting with Senegalese Minister of International Cooperation Karim Wade, saying Senegal has a strategic position with its "first class" port facilities.
Kumar said he had discussed with the Senegalese minister about the possibilities and the opportunities offered by Washington under the African Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA), which allows Senegalese companies to export to the U. S. market.
Heading a team of seven U. S. companies, Kumarthe arrived in Dakar on Sunday for an official visit which is expected to end on Wednesday.
