Moderate earthquake hits Colombia

An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale hit on Thursday the central parts of Colombia, and was felt in different regions of the country, including the capital Bogota.

So far there have been no reports of casualties or damage.

According to the National Seismology Network, the tremor occurred at 2:34 p.m. local time (1934 GMT), with its epicenter near Ortega municipality in Tolima department.

The Network also said that the quake was located at a depth of 4 kilometers, and that it was strongly felt in Bogota, Medellin, Aremnia, Florencia and Neiva.

In the Colombian capital, some government buildings were evacuated due to the panic caused by the earthquake.
