Mexico's investigators found another 13 bodies and two more mass graves in the country's violent border state of Tamaulipas, state officials said Friday.

The new find has brought the number of bodies recovered in northeastern Mexico this week to 72.

According to Interior Secretary Morelos Canseco, nine bodies were found in eight previously known mass graves, while four others were in two that were newly discovered.

State authorities said they started receiving reports in late March that gunmen were pulling men off buses on the stretch of road that leads past the city of San Fernando.

It is the same area where 72 migrants were massacred last August.

Experts in Matamoros are now working to identify the corpses, which were transported there under police escort.
