The visiting Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said here on Wednesday his country will support Albania's NATO bid at the alliance's upcoming summit.

"We will strongly support Albania's integration into NATO at the coming Bucharest summit," Erdogan said after meeting his Albanian counterpart Sali Berisha.

Turkey is one of Albania's main economic partners, with an investment of about 620 million U.S. dollars in Albania.

Albania and Turkey has a long history of relationship. The small western Balkan country had been ruled by the Ottoman Empire for more than 400 years until early last century.
