Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Poland have upheld the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and reiterated their support for Georgia and Ukraine's bid to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

The presidents of the four nations, in a joint declaration following a meeting here Thursday, expressed their willingness to strengthen dialogue with Georgia, saying the just-concluded parliamentary polls in the country were in accordance with international law, and a "free and democratic election."

The declaration, called the Riga Statement, also reaffirmed support for Georgia and Ukraine's NATO membership bid.

Following the meeting, the four leaders were due to fly together to an international energy summit in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev.
