France on Tuesday summoned the Iranian ambassador for a second time to express its concerns over the country's disputed presidential election.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Frederic Desagneaux said the French government reiterated its "deep concern with developments in Iran" and asked again for the "full light on the sincerity of the presidential election."
"We reasserted our condemnation of the brutal repression of protests that have left many dead," the spokesman said. "Accusations of interference were rejected in the strongest terms."
Iranian Ambassador Seyed Mehdi Miraboutalebi had been summoned to the French Foreign Ministry last week, three days after the Iranian authorities declared a landslide victory for President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad over opposition candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi.
Iran has condemned what it says is interference in the country's internal affairs by some Western countries, particularly the United States, Britain, France and Germany.
Demonstrators have gathered almost every day to protest alleged fraud in the June 12 election, which was challenged by Mousavi.
