Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said Thursday that negotiations with South Korea on construction of a nuclear power plant in the northern Turkish province of Sinop were positive.
Yildiz made the remarks at a press conference in the Turkish capital of Ankara after his talks with visiting South Korean Minister of Knowledge Economy Choi Kyoung Hwan.
The Turkish energy minister said, "there will not be any problems in signing a nuclear energy agreement between Turkey and South Korea."
Yildiz said Turkish President Abdullah Gul will visit South Korea in the following week, hoping to make progress in nuclear energy agreement before that visit.
For his part, Choi said South Korea would work to construct the most secure and lucrative nuclear power plant in Sinop.
In March, Turkey signed a cooperation protocol with South Korea to establish a nuclear energy power plant in Sinop.
