Iceland's PM reshuffles her cabinet

Iceland's Prime Minister Johanna Sigurdardottir Thursday announced the reshuffling of her cabinet at the presidential residence Bessastadir, according to reports reaching from Reykjavik.

"Gudbjartur Hannesson of the Social Democrats will lead a new Welfare Ministry and Ogmundur Jonasson of the Left-Greens a new Ministry for Internal Affairs," a report from the Iceland Review said.

Jonasson will take over the projects of the Ministry of Justice and the new Ministry of Internal Affairs will take care of transport.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health will be merged in Hannesson's new Ministry of Welfare.

The report said that four ministers will step down from the cabinet. They include Minister of Health Alfheidur Ingadottir of the Left-Greens and Minister of Transport Kristjan L. Moller of the Social Democrats, the Independent ministers Gylfi Magnusson of Economic Affairs and Minister of Justice Ragna Arnadottir.

Former Minister of Social Affairs Arni Pall Arnason will take over the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

After the reshuffling, the Social Democrats-Left Greens coalition government seems to be slimmer. But the ministers of Finance and Foreign Affairs remain the same, Steingnmur, Sigfusson and Ossur SKarphedinsson while the Minister of Agriculture and Minister for Industry will continue to be Jon Bjarnason and Katrin Juliusdottir.
