Poland denies report of arrest linked with Norway attacks

Poland's officials on Monday denied reports that a man had been detained in the country in connection with Friday's deadly attacks in Norway that left 76 dead, local media reported.

Earlier reports said that Polish prosecutors were questioning an owner of a Polish fertilizer company, based in the southwestern city of Wroclaw, about his contacts with Norwegian killer Anders Behring Breivik.

Aaccording to the reports, the Norwegian suspect bought two different substances, one in the amount of a few hundred grams, and more than 100 kg of the other substance.

Norwegian ultra-right multiple killer Breivik's ties with Poland were purely commercial and marginal, the materials for his bomb were purchased elsewhere, Poland's Interior Security Agency (ABW) announced Monday.

Inquiries into Breivik's Polish contacts were launched on grounds of Polish traces found in his online-published "European Independence Declaration." Among others, Poland is mentioned in connection with explosives and the construction of a bomb.

"The assailant purchased materials for his explosives mainly in Norway and other European countries. His purchases in Poland were marginal," ABW deputy head Pawel Bialek said.

Bialek added that Polish authorities had made no detentions or brought any charges against anybody in Poland linked with the case.

Bialek assured that Breivik's ties with Poland were inconsequential for the Friday massacre.

According to ABW, there are also no indications that Breivik had been or tried to buy arms in Poland.

Far-right extremist Breivik is accused of being behind a car bombing in central Oslo that killed eight people, and an attack on a nearby island which killed at least 68 people.
