Twenty-two Iranian students were killed when a bus collided with a fuel vehicle in southwestern Iran, the official news agency reported on Sunday.
The bus was taking those university students back home to Iran's northeastern city of Mashhad and collided with the fuel tanker late Saturday on the roads of Khuzestan province, the report said.
The vehicles then burst into flames and burned the victims alive, the report said, adding that seven others were injured in the accident.
According to the local police, "the driver of the fuel vehicle was drowsy and speeding" at that time and caused the accident, the report said.
Over the past five years, 100,000 people were killed in traffic accidents, a pretty high level considering the country's population of 69 million.
