Jordanian Prime Minister Nader Dahabi and visiting Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa on Tuesday voiced their opposition to Israel's expansion of settlements in east Jerusalem, according to a statement of Moussa.
The statement said they said the expansion of Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories, mainly in Jerusalem, was unacceptable and negatively affected efforts to advance political negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis.
They made the remarks during their talks here, stressing the need for Arab and international efforts to coerce Israel to fulfill its obligations towards peace.
Both of them expressed support to the national dialogue among Palestinian factions and hoped it will be a starting point to promote Palestinian national unity and enable the Palestinians to regain their legitimate rights.
The statement said both sides stressed the importance of supporting Iraq to continue the reconciliation process and enable Iraq to regain its role on the Arab and international levels.
The AL secretary general is visiting Jordan to attend the fourth Conference of Noble Laurates which will be held Wednesday in tourist city Petra. Source: Xinhua
