A U.S. report said 43 U.S. soldiers of Native Hawaiian or Pacific Island origin have been killed in the Iraq war, Radio New Zealand International reported on Friday.

The report, compiled by the U.S. State Department, does not provide the specific state or territory that is home record for the deceased.

It also said in the five years to April 2008, a total of 171 Hawaiians or Pacific Islanders were wounded in action.

Since the start of the Iraq war in 2003, a total of 14 Samoan soldiers have been killed in action. Another three were killed in the Afghanistan conflict, according to the report.
