An American soldier died on Wednesday from fatal wounds received in a bomb explosion in Baghdad, the U.S. military said.
The attack took place on Tuesday in northeastern the capital when an improvised explosive device struck the soldier's vehicle who later died at a U.S. medical facility, a military statement said.
The name of the deceased soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statement said.
About 4,148 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
