Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman on Sunday held talks with a delegation of the Palestinian Arab Liberation Front for the resumption of an inter-Palestinian national dialogue.
Members of the Palestinian group Hassan al-Kashef said they discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the danger of inter-Palestinian rift on the Palestinian cause, the Egyptian MENA news agency reported.
The meeting came as part of Egyptian mediation efforts to hold bilateral talks with various Palestinian factions in a bid to resume inter-Palestinian dialogue and heal the current rift among Palestinians.
Earlier in the day, a delegation of the Palestinian Fatah movement arrived here for talks with Suleiman on means of ending the current inter-Palestinian feud.
Since late August, Egyptian mediators have started bilateral talks with delegations of Palestinian factions to hammer out a unified stance among Palestinians to overcome the current inter-Palestinian crisis.
Suleiman, who is in charge of the mediation talks with Palestinian groups, is reportedly to receive a Hamas delegation on Oct. 8.
The Palestinian factions, under the auspices of Egypt, are expected to start a comprehensive national dialogue in the latter half of October in Cairo.
