The left-wing Palestinian Popular Front to Liberate Palestine (PFLP) proposed on Thursday to form a unity government without any political platform.

The proposal was made in a meeting held in Gaza between PFLP leaders and two senior Fatah negotiators who arrived in Gaza two days ago to bridge gaps in the inter-dialogue that failed so far to agree on forming a new government.

The major argument is between rival Fatah and Hamas movements mainly on the political platform of a unity government that abides by the international requirements, mainly recognizing Israel and condemning violence.

Hamas rejects to form a government with a platform that recognizes Israel, while Fatah leaders said they don't want Hamas to recognize Israel but they want a government that ends the blockades imposed on Gaza for two years.

"The PFLP proposal is to form a transitional unity government without a political platform in order to jump over the major argument between the two movements," PFLP leader Kayed el-Ghoul told reporters.

He added that this government has specific missions, mainly unifying the official establishment, to prepare for presidential and legislative elections and to work jointly on reconstructing the Gaza Strip.

On Wednesday night, Fatah leaders met their rival Hamas leaders in Gaza City, where both had stated that the meeting was friendly and positive.

The Fatah leaders will hold another meeting in Gaza before they left back to Ramallah on Tuesday.
