Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will depart to Turkey on Nov. 8 to take part in the economic summit of Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in the country, the official IRNA news agency reported on Monday.
Ahmadinejad is to stay in Turkey for two days, during which he is due to meet with top Turkish officials as well as world Islamic leaders attending the summit, the report said.
Besides, during his trip, Ahmadinejad will hold a press conference and meet with the Iranian businesspersons in Turkey as well.
Iran and Turkey as the two major Islamic countries with ideological influences in the Islamic world enjoy close ties with each other, including cooperation in several significant oil and gas projects.
As a gesture of the friendly relationships with Ahmadinejad, in his last week visit to Tehran, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that countries which opposed to Iran's atomic program should give up their own nuclear weapons.
The 25th session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of OIC, to be held in Istanbul, will run from Nov. 5 to Nov. 9.
