Argentina and France agreed on Monday to strengthen their military ties through joint defense projects.

Argentine Defense Minister Nilda Garre discussed with her visiting French counterpart Herve Morin issues of common interest, including cooperation and exchange programs, the Argentine Defense Ministry said.

According to the ministry, Morin expressed France's interest in “strengthening the traditional defense ties between the two countries."

Both countries pledged to work on a series of defense projects, including the construction of an amphibian vessel, the modernization of the Argentine Super Etendard attack ships, and French replacements for the Argentine Tucano planes, the ministry said.
