The drill code-named Velayat 89 will kick off on Wednesday in the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, Sayyari was quoted as saying.
In April, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) held a series of war games in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, code-named as the Great Messenger 5.
Accordingly, Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said that the military exercise of IRGC was successful, the official IRNA news agency reported.
Sayyari said that the exercise by Iran's navy will be carried out in six phases and will last eight days, according to Press TV.
The drill aims to display Iran's prowess in defending the country's territory and carries the message of "peace and friendship" for regional countries, Sayyari was quoted as saying.
