Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh discussed here Wednesday the progress of Israeli-Palestinian proximity talks.

During the meeting, Jordanian foreign minister briefed Mubarak on the outcome of the recent meeting between King Abdullah II of Jordan and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

King Abdullah II held talks on Tuesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Amman over means to create a suitable environment for launching serious and effective direct peace negotiations that address all final status issues.

Last week, Netanyahu traveled to Cairo to meet Mubarak. The trip was aimed at updating his host on his recent discussions with U.S. President Barack Obama at the White House and, more significantly, to urge Cairo to persuade the Palestinians of the benefits of direct talks.
