Iranian lawmakers said that the missile maneuvers of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) convey Iran's message of "might" and "deterrent power", the local English language satellite Press TV reported on Wednesday.
"The IRGC military exercises show that Iran has the potential to counter any threat by relying on its own forces," Head of the Majlis Defense Committee Gholam-Reza Karami was quoted as saying on Tuesday.
Karami said that such drills are aimed at improving coordination among defensive systems of the country, achieving military objectives and identifying points of weakness and strength, said the report.
Another Iranian lawmaker Fatemeh Ajorlou also said on the day that the world public opinion will become familiar with Iran's deterrent power thanks to the drills.
The Western countries, led by the U.S., tried very hard to prevent any change in the balance of power in the Middle East or to change it in their own favor, said Ajorlou implying that West has failed in pursuing their regional policies.
Iran announced on Tuesday that it "successfully" testfired 14 short, medium and long-range missiles on the second day of the missile drills.
The missiles fired included Zelzal, Shahab-1, Shahab-2 and Shahab-3 on the second day of the Piambar A'zam-6 (Great Prophet-6) military drills.
The missiles which were launched near the central city of Qom comprised five Shahab missiles, including four medium-range and one long-range, as well as nine Zelzal missiles.
The Islamic Republic began the drills on Monday, and on the first day of the exercises, Iran unveiled underground missile silos and fired Fateh-110 missile.
