A deadly clash between two families in an Egyptian Delta governorate over land disputes killed at least nine and injured six others on Thursday.

The shootout occurred when both families claimed the ownership of a plot of land in a village in the Qalyubiya capital city of Benha, some 40 km north of Cairo, the official MENA news agency reported.

Police rushed to the scene and an investigation was underway, said the report without elaborating more details of the incident.
