Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazef renewed on Thursday that his country will try to help Sudan resolve the crisis with the International Criminal Court (ICC) and reach peace in Darfur, the official MENA news agency reported.
Nazef made the remarks at a joint press conference with visiting Sudanese Vice President Ali Osman Taha following the sixth session of the Egyptian-Sudanese Higher Committee, which started Wednesday in northern Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria.
Nazef reiterated his country's rejection to the recent call of ICC Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo to arrest Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur.
Egypt is fully committed to supporting the Sudanese people and protecting the unity and stability of Sudan, said Nazef.
During the two-day meeting co-chaired with Taha, Nazef said the two sides tackled cooperation in the fields of agriculture, energy and transportation.
They also discussed the issue of food security and ways of boosting bilateral trade exchange, added the Egyptian prime minister.
For his part, Taha expressed Sudan's appreciation to the support of Egypt over the years to help push forward the peace and development processes in Sudan.
At the end of the meeting, the two neighboring countries signed11 cooperation agreements and memos of understanding in the domains of education, energy research, trade, industry, justice and youth and sports.
