Six foreign nationals, including four foreign aid workers and two pilots, were kidnapped on Wednesday by unidentified gunmen in the central Somali town of Dhusamareb, the provincial capital of Galgadud region, local media reported.

The abducted foreigners were a Belgian, a Polish, two French nationals and two Kenyans who were the pilots.

Reports from Shusamareb said the four aid workers were kidnapped by unknown gunmen as they tried to board a plane at the local airport.

The pilot and the assistant pilot were also taken to an unknown location along with the four aid workers who were said to be staff of an aid agency, the reports said.
