Japan decided Monday to extend the deployment of two Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF) members to UN peacekeeping missions in Sudan for one year from June 30, Kyodo News reported.

The decision is in line with the extension of the UN Mission in Sudan through April 30 next year.

Japan dispatched two GSDF members in October last year to engage in logistical and database management at the head office of UNMIS, and the first team was replaced by another two members in April.
