The Sudanese government on Wednesday expressed concern over violent incidents against civilians in Libya and urged for resorting to wisdom and self- restraint to prevent bloodshed in a way that achieves aspirations of the Libyan people in peace, security and stability.
The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by Xinhua, urged the Libyan leadership to stop all forms of violence, resolve the difference through peaceful means and prevent the Libyan people from more bloodshed.
"The fraternal relationship and the historical bilateral ties dictate for Sudan to provide advice for the Libyan leadership to necessarily stop using force in all its forms against the Libyan people," the statement said.
"We call on the Libyan leadership which raises the banners of Arab and African unity to favor the unity of the Libyan people, protect their history and cultural heritage and mobilize their energies towards a promising future," the statement added.
The Sudanese government further warned against impacts of the ongoing events in Libya on the security and stability of the Arab and African surrounding.
"Due to the important geo-strategic location of Libya and its demographic interaction with the neighboring countries, continuation of events and turbulence in Libya will negatively affect regional stability unless the matter is addressed through the required wisdom," the statement said.
