Excitement was mounting in Pretoria on Monday night as South Africans awaited the arrival of U. S. First Lady Michelle Obama at the city's Waterkloof Air Force Base.
According to local Talk Radio 702, Obama will be accompanied by her mother and daughters for the week-long visit to South Africa and Botswana.
On her trip, Obama will emphasize youth leadership, health and wellness, the radio station said.
Describing her as a fashion icon and role model, it said she has made similar visits to Britain, Latin America and Asia.
In Johannesburg, Obama will visit the Nelson Mandela Foundation, dedicated to South Africa's iconic first democratically elected president. She will also visit sites associated with South Africa' s liberation struggle against apartheid.
