Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko on Thursday urged the European Union and the Black Sea region states to strengthen regional cooperation in areas such as trade, transportation, energy, environmental protection and communications infrastructure development.
"Ukraine will take active part in constructing key projects in the Black Sea region," Yushchenko said in Kiev at a forum of so-called "Black Sea Synergy," attended by foreign ministers from theEU and the Black Sea region states.
Yushchenko stressed the importance of implementing the Eurasian transport corridor project, believing it would help the Black Sea region integrate into the global economy.
He said that Ukraine is willing to establish a comprehensive free trade zone with the EU and the Black Sea Region states in accordance with WTO regulations, to bring the bilateral economic and trade cooperation to a new level.
The "Black Sea Synergy" forum launched a new initiative for regional cooperation with the participation of the EU which seeks to enhance as much as possible the cooperation among the individual countries in light of the increased information, investment, and transport exchanges. Source: Xinhua
