Mohamed ElBaradei, director general of the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), confirmed here Friday in his latest report on Iran's nuclear issues that Iran had clarified the majority of open issues in its nuclear programs but the agency was still uncertain of its peaceful nature.
In the report, circulated Friday in the agency's Board of Governors, Elbaradei pointed out that Iran had answered the most open questions in its nuclear programs, including the source of remnant enriched uranium pollution.
However, due to the agency's uncertainty of Iran's undeclared nuclear materials and activities, he urged Iran to take all necessary measures to clarify related questions, in order to convince the agency and the United Nations Security Council the peaceful nature of its nuclear programs.
Elbarade called on Iran to comply the request of the UN Security Council for suspending its uranium enrichment related activities.
Moreover, he expressed "serious concern" over the remained open questions about Iran's alleged studies on weaponization of nuclear programs, which were closely linked to the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear programs.
He pointed out that although the majority of the open questions had been clarified, the agency still had right to ask Iran to answer further questions in order to improve the IAEA's analysis on Iran's nuclear issues.
He said the two sides have made positive progress and Iran should take active measures to clarify all the open questions in its past nuclear activities as soon as possible.
