UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is leaving Wednesday afternoon for Atlanta, Georgia, which will be part of his ongoing tour of major U.S. cities.
On Thursday morning, Ban will join Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin in viewing the Martin Luther King, Jr., Papers Collectionat the Robert W. Woodruff Library, UN spokesperson Marie Okabe said.
He is expected to see documents underlining the deep relationship between the civil rights leader and the United Nations, Okabe said.
The secretary-general's tribute to Dr. King will coincide with the yearlong commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, she said.
The UN chief also plans to meet with Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue and tour the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Source:Xinhua
