UN chief to visit Liechtenstein, Austria in week-long trip

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon will begin a week-long visit to Liechtenstein and Austria on Tuesday, UN spokesman Martin Nesirky told reporters here Monday.

On Tuesday, Ban will first travel to Liechtenstein for an official visit where he will meet with senior officials in the region, including Prince Hans-Adam II, the deputy prime minister and the minister of foreign affairs, said Nesirky.

"He will deliver a speech on global governance to parliamentarians, politicians, business leaders and members of civil society," Nesirky said.

In Vienna, Austria, Ban will meet with senior officials and give opening remarks at the conference titled "From Vision to Reality: A New and Holistic Approach to Fighting Corruption."

The conference is organized by the government of Austria and in close cooperation with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and supported by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF).

Then in Alpbach, Austria, the secretary-general will address the European Forum 2010 well as the Security Council Retreat, in addition to hosting the annual retreat for UN senior officials, said Nesirky.
