World leaders participating in the UN high-level meeting on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) on Wednesday adopted an outcome document to reaffirm their resolve to work together to achieve the MDGs by its deadline of 2015.

It also vows to support developing countries, "in particular those countries that are lagging most behind and those goals that are most off track, thus improving the lives of the poorest people."
"We are convinced that the Millennium Development Goals can be achieved."
Nearly 140 heads of state and government attended the three-day high-level meeting, which was held to review the progress and difficulties in the world efforts to reach the MDGs targets.
"We reaffirm our resolve to work together for the promotion of the economic and social advancement of all peoples," the outcome document said.
The 28-page document, entitled "Keeping the promise: united to achieve the Millennium Development Goals," was adopted as the clock ticks closer to the 2015 deadline.
The adoption, which came as world leader are to conclude the three-day high-level summit on the eight anti-poverty goals, was agreed upon after months of negotiations by UN member states.
