The Kyoto Protocol must and will survive the U.N. climate conference in Copenhagen, Yvo de Boer, the executive secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, said Thursday.
"Should Iran continue to fail to meet its obligations, the international community will have to consider further actions," said U.S. Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice, who later told reporters that she meant tougher sanctions.
So far 16,000 troops have received the marching orders under Obama's new strategy for Afghanistan announced on Dec. 1, with tens of thousands of military gears waiting for transportation, he added.
